Hello,
I am planning to embark on my studies with tax later on in the year. I see however that the lectures are somewhat far longer than any other of the lectures covered in other syllabuses in the Applied Skills stage. I was looking at another thread and a student said they had done an approximate calculation for how long it will take to cover this syllabus with 73 hours needed, and that is just to watch the lectures. Then there will be the need to go through the revision kit. All in all, the size of this syllabus is like the equivalent of two other syllabuses.
I see there are new lectures coming in June, and i wonder if this will include condensed lectures?
I’m AAT fully qualified just to give some background, so have a little bit of tax knowledge, but not much. I guess i’m just trying to see the best way of approaching this, without cutting corners etc. I’d like to cover another syllabus in conjunction with this, like Company and Law as it appears a fair bit shorter. I’m currently studying about 15 or 16 hours a week.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
February 20, 2023 at 2:06 pm #679239Tax is a complex topic I’m afraid. And it will take up a considerable amount of time. However, if you are AAT qualified then much of the information you will understand and it’ll be a matter of remembering and updating your knowledge.
The new lectures will soon be available and they will be about 20 hours long and are for exams from June 2023. The new manual will also be available and has 25 chapters.
You will need about double the time, to cover watching recordings and doing the examples by yourself. I would expect you to then do the practice questions and finally move onto the BPP revision kit for exam question practise. The more you practice the more proficient you become and the greater your confidence.
hope this helps

No that does help. Thanks. If the lectures are being downsized, then this alone will free up time to practice the questions. Hopefully i can then do another syllabus alongside it in keeping in with attempting two exams per each window.
Thanks again.
