Hi sir,
Q174 bpp book, I worked this out by times the ratio by the total actual mix kg.
My working was
7500 x 10% = 750
7500 x 20% = 1500
7500 x 30% = 2250
7500 x 40% = 3000
Total 7500But I know this is the incorrect way to work out the material mix. What is the correct working for this question?
July 31, 2021 at 9:58 am #629913I don’t know why you write that it is incorrect. It is correct as far as it goes, but you haven’t finished.
To get the mix variance you need to compare the actual mix with the standard mix, both costed at the standard cost per Kg.
Have you watched my free lectures on mix and yield variances? The lectures are a complete free course for Paper PM and cover everything needed to be able to pass the exam well.

I did finish the question but I was trying to work out the std mix… I have also watched the lectures videos however in this example ratios were given… it is incorrect because I didn’t use the materials mix equation…
What would the equation be in this case for the standard mix?
August 1, 2021 at 8:45 am #629992The standard mix is 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40% of the actual total of 7,500 kgs, as you wrote in your first post.
There is no other equation relevant.
