Dear Sir,
While PETSL and porter 5 forces are used to analysis macroeconomic and the attractiveness of a market sector, I am unsure when and for what to use SWOT and value chain.
my understanding is that i can use SWOT and value chain to analyze the company’s current position can you please advise me if my understanding is correct?
Thank you very much for your time in advance.
Value chain looks internally at how the company adds value. Why do customers permit the company to make profits by paying more than the goods cost? It might be expertise, efficient production, innovation, clever marketing. What ever it is, the company must understand it and protect/enhance it.
SWOT at internal factors (SW) and external (OT). PESTEL and 5 Forces can gemnerate ixeas for OT; value chain, resource analysis etc can generate ideas for SW.
All this is explained in our lectures.
