I am starting to study to ACCA and deciding the calculator I want. Any ideas?

Anyone knows if the new HP Prime v2 is accepted? It has a lockdown mode that can be used for exams.

    Thanks.

    See https://www.accaglobal.com/uk/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/rules-and-regs/exam-regulations.html

6.You are not permitted to use a dictionary or an electronic translator of any kind or have on or at your desk a calculator which can store or display text. You are also not permitted to use mobile phones, electronic communication devices or any item with smart technology functionality in the examination hall.

My general understanding of this rule is that calculators cannot be programmable. The exam invigilator/supervisor can remove “unauthorised items” from your desk and you could be subject to disciplinary proceedings for taking them into the exam (see exam regulation 7b).

That it has a lockdown mode is irrelevant – since invigilators/supervisors could not possibly be expected to check that every calculator has been put into that mode they would simply not permit.

As ACCA is moving to CBE there in an on-screen calculator (standard or scientific) – see page 12 of https://www.accaglobal.com/content/dam/ACCA_Global/Students/exam/Guide%20to%20CBEs_FINAL.PDF

As this is modeled on the TI-30XS, this would be a good choice (so you become familiar with its functions, etc in practicing questions).
