Interview with December 2014 F8 Genius Hunt Winner

mamboPlease tell us in which country you live, and what work do you do.

I’m Emmanuel and I live in Kampala, Uganda. I work with Interface Consulting Ltd as a Financial Accountant.

You have scored 87 marks in Paper F8, how much time each week did you spend studying, on average?

I never found F8, Audit and Assurance to be so difficult so I didn’t spend a lot of time reading it but rather concentrated more on reading F5, Performance Management. On average I spent about 4 hours weekly reading audit.

Which study resources did you use?

I used BPP and open tuition notes for my studies but also watched a lot of聽 ACCA support videos especially the presentation of audit risk and audit evidence by subject specialists from Kaplan and BPP.

Did you get support from your firm?

My firm paid 50% of my examination fees and granted me leave on time to prepare for my papers.

What was your approach to your studying?

The most important thing in F8 is understanding the concepts which entails reading widely which you’ll agree with me can be so daunting. I did 100% self study so I focused more on reading the study text and watching support videos which helped me in my exams but also question practice is important because it highlights how questions can possibly be set. I also read the examiners report to understand the type of answers expected for a particular question.

What would you say was the most important factor that helped you to achieve such a high mark?

聽Hard work and determination.

How did you find out about OpenTuition, and which of our resources did you use?

I found about open tuition in 2011 while I was still at the university. I was looking for free resources on Google and then came across it.

    Hi Emmanuel
I am really challenged, and am going to adopt your approach. I am in southern Africa: and have sat for F8 more than one and couldn’t pass.
