Please tell us about yourself.
I live in southern part of India, specifically Kochi in Kerala.
You have scored 75 marks in Paper P4, how much time each week did you spend studying, on average?
I usually start to study around 2 months before the exams. The former month studies will be of avg 4 to 6 and last month studies will be of average 8 to 10 hours. I believe in smart rather than hard work. So it isn’t time that matter, but how you utilise the time you study.
Which study resources did you use?
I used tutor notes from my class tutor along with opentuition notes . After that did past papers from acca website. Did almost 15 past papers.
Did you get support from your firm?
The most happy thing was i was employed in the tuition centre where i studied. I.e kaplans school of accountancy and management, kochi. They supported me with free tuitions.
What was your approach to your studying?
Initially i attended classes. Around 2 months before exams , used to start by tutor notes and opentuition notes . And further , did past papers . Past papers questions were really good to understand the examiners approach. I do recommend that find your own approach rather than adopting to someone else’s approach.
What would you say was the most important factor that helped you to achieve such a high mark?
The most important thing was exam technique which helped me to attain this. My tutor used to say 100% attempt will increase the chance of winning. So i prepared myself to attend for 100 marks.
How did you find out about OpenTuition, and which of our resources did you use?
During my initial papers of acca tutors said about opentuition . Initially I was lazy to browse internet and stay online in opentuition. But for f6 it did really help me to revise portions. So after that i relied on every papers . I relied on course notes mostly and occasionally video lectures too.

first try to understand the concept behind each part. f9 notes and contents will help you out in that. and do past question paper as much as possible… in every question there will be easy marks. and there are some things that will be having in each question which will earn marks like cost of capital calc, beta calc etc.. and u need to identify what to find first .. for eg.. in forex npv the first thing to find is exchange rate in future date. this all comes from practice as well as proper guidance from a tutor.

I wonder if he made only one paper or attended more. What does 8-10 means? It would be interesting to hear his technique of making his study more effective.

we would love to know how he approached the questions and what a reasonable attempt to a question is.

the interview should have been more vast so that we could understand the effective study technique and pitfall.
