Dear John,
I have attended lots of your lectures but this topic seemed to immesly tricky. In the your lectures part a: I had problem on when to multiply and when to divide. However I am familiar that what sounds worst to the company it should go ahead. Its totally going beyond my mind…I thought the concept will become firm once I watch other videos but I realized its a base concept and I need some more help.
Many Thanks

August 23, 2014 at 4:01 pm #192038Where to divide and where to multiply the rates?
August 23, 2014 at 5:41 pm #192052All you have to remember is that the rate quoted is the number of the first currency that is equal to 1 of the second currency.
S….if the quote is $/£ 1.50, then it means that 1.5 $’s = 1£. So if you are converted from $’s into £’s then you divide, whereas if you are converting from £’s into $’s then you multiply.
If the quote was £/$ 0.80, then it means that 0.80£’s = 1$. So if you converting from $’s into £’s then you multiply, whereas if you are converting from £’s into $’s you divide.
August 24, 2014 at 2:33 pm #192164ok Thanks.
1)
I have also noticed that you was saying only Forward and money hedging will be required as computational ( numbers ). The other options, futures will not be numbers but the written areas.2)
The other query is that with new pattern most written areas will be examined through written, lets say 40% and the rest other section b will just be mostly of arithmatics? Many Thanks
August 25, 2014 at 5:47 am #192192You were correct to notice the first point.
With regard to your second point – no. There will be written and computations in both sections of the exam (have a look at the specimen paper on the ACCA website).
