I would use it to read the requirements (ignore the body of the question at this stage).
Underline key points in the requirements (especially when one requirement asks for two things e.g. calculate and discuss. Once you start working it is easy to forget that two things were wanted)
Decide what order you are going to attempt the questions.
Start noting some points you would make for the written parts of questions (short notes on the question paper – obviously you can’t start writing in the answer booklet).
