Can you tell us more about yourself?
I am Sohaib Farooq from Lahore, Pakistan. I am currently doing bachelors in business and administration from university of Punjab and also doing acca on “self-study” basis. From the day one I had special interest in accounting and finance and if I say the field of “accounting and finance” is my love, it would not be wrong.
How do you balance between studying for MBA and ACCA?
I always have a plan and accordingly I stick to it which incorporates my both degrees and social life. So if you have a well-organized plan and a strong will to pursue it, I guess, nothing is impossible.
Which study materials did you use, or found the most useful in your studies for this exam?
I have had always used BPP text and revision kits and found them best for the acca exams.
You have scored such high marks (79% in Paper P2) many students must wonder what is your study technique?
I rather believe in quality of study rather than quantity. I never had in my mind to study for that much hours but I focus on understanding every bits of the syllabus. (Studying on an average of 2 to 3 hours a day for a month is enough for one paper) That is how I used to prepare for the exams.
Most of the important thing is the performance on exam day. I use to take good sleep before exam and revise my notes (summary of all the chapters) before entering the examination hall.
During the exam time management is the most crucial thing. You should enter in the examination hall with the aim of completing 100% exam, though understanding the questions and then solving it, is better than mere completing the exam without grasping the crux of questions.
What do you think was the most important factor in your success in your ACCA exams?
Once you are determined to achieve a goal, you can achieve it through your hard work and the grace of ALMIGHTY.
How did you find out about OpenTuition and which OpenTuition resources helped you towards your success.
One of my friends told me about OT. As I don’t avail the opportunity of expensive tuition providers, the free notes, lectures and the forums on open tution are very helpful for understanding the complex issues of the syllabus.
