Congratulations for scoring the best marks in June 2013 ACCA P2 exam, can you tell us more about yourself
I am from Romania, working as a financial markets analyst full time, studying ACCA since December 2011 with BPP Bucharest. I have reached and passed my first professional level paper in June 2013 with no exam failed so far.
Many students are working just like you, how do you balance between studying, job and private life?
A full time job and studying for 2 ACCA exams each sitting is a great challenge, but I manage to keep a balance between my professional life, personal life and studying through starting learning 3 months before the exam. I structure the syllabus in bits and pieces all over this 3 months period in order to be able to balance all the aspects of my life.
Do you get support from your firm?
My company pays all the ACCA related fees (admission, exam, tuition) and allows me to attend classes both learning and revision.
Which Study materials did you use, or found the most useful in your studies for this exam?
I use BPP study text and revision kit, BPP course notes and revision notes provided in classes and OT course notes. Before using BPP materials I used Kaplan materials. Being able to compare them I prefer BPP.
You have scored such high marks, many students must wonder what is your study technique?
I study 3 months before the exam 1-2 hours a day, go to classes feeder and revision phases. I start through reading the course notes and study texts, then I use the revision kit (I always try to look at all the examples in the revision kit as there lots of different tips and tricks than one can find in each question). The most important part of the revision for me is represented by mock exams. I attend mock exams at the headquarters of my provider, but I also create my own exam simulations with time constraints and then review my work objectively.
What do you think was the most important factor in your success in your ACCA exams?
The most important factor of my success is definitely self-motivation and careful learning process management – I structure the syllabus, create a learning calendar, take mock exams etc.
How did you find out about OpenTuition and which OpenTuition resources helped you towards your success.
I found out about open tuition from a colleague using the site already. The forums of open tuition helped me a lot. I use to read the questions of other students to see where other people face problems.
Thank you for your time and congratulations
