What is the CFA

WHAT IS THE CFA?

CFA stands for Chartered Financial Analyst. The CFA Institute is the global association of investment professionals.

BENEFITS OF OBTAINING THE CFA QUALIFICATION

The qualification provides a strong foundation of real-world investment analysis and portfolio management skills and is well recognised and respected by employers within the investment industry.

STUDYING FOR THE CFA QUALIFICATION

In order to become CFA it is necessary to pass 3 examinations – levels I, II and III – which must be taken in order.

The level I exam is held twice a year – June and December. The levels II and III exams are held once a year, in June.

The CFA Institute provides the study materials. In addition some private companies provide face-to-face tuition.

Exams are held in countries throughout the world.

HOW TO REGISTER WITH THE CFA

You register at the same time as entering for the level I examination. You can do this online on their website: https://www.cfainstitute.org/programs/cfaprogram/register/Pages/fee_schedule.aspx

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

There is a one-time enrollment fee (currently $440) payable when you register for your first exam.

The exam registration fee varies depending on how early or late you register, and the format of the study materials required, but is approximately $780 for each exam.

The exam registration fee includes study materials.
