Hi sir! I think there’s a mistake in the lecture.. in the first page of the lecture notes, the total of frequency is 52 so I think the frequency means the no. of weeks and in the lecture you said that it means the no. of employees. could you clarify?
No mistake. It means the number of employees. The table shows the number of employees in each of the pay ranges. The total of these is the total number of employees.
There is no lecture. There are no calculations involved and what is written in the chapter of the notes is sufficient. If you are not clear about anything written in the notes then ask in the Ask the Tutor Forum.
Sir when you calculating median you write a formula (n+1)/2 and when you start valuing, you value n=13 which is actually sigma”f” and in kaplan “n” = number of value of x
Sir I really love ur lecture , it helped me lot… Thank you very much God bless u… Sir I didn’t get the point when you talk about the boundaries.. If we say 500- under 1000 does our data include 500 and 1000?
I think back during my school days, we were taught maybe when it’s an odd no. of observations, the formula would be (n+1)/2 but when it’s an even no. of observations – the formula would be n梅2. In this case they would both arrive at the same answer, that is, 7th observation. It’s long back during my school days and I might be wrong, so apologies. Just wanted to know if there is anything like that?

Sir, when using the median Why not sigma f+1/2 instead of n+1/2 ?
Iveytee says
Sir, why is it when using the median the total frequency is n instead of sigma f.
Why not sigma f+1/2 instead of n+1/2 ?

It does not matter what symbols you use.

It looks like chapter numbers on the text, and the lectures have got out of sync. This is ch 23 in the notes, but ch 22 in videos.

Yes – it is the same.

It can be confusing, whether to interpret frequency as number of employees or number of weeks
