I would like to ask is it a must that we rewrite the financial statements in excel for submission? Can we not just extract the pdf of financial statements from the original annual report and submit with the project?

yes you must rewrite in excel if you are planning to use them inside the main document, PDFs are OK as appendix but normally you are required to use tables inside the main document to show the assessor how the ratios are moving – then it is critical to use excel. I recommend to prepare it in excel as doing it will complete the requirement of using IT skills. Additionally you are not required to attach the full document in appendix – only attach the BS, PNL, Cashflow, SOCIE, Ratio analysis sheet and Non financial indicators as appendix.
