Pretty much the same scenario here. I was told the P1 teacher at my institute isn’t very good and was recommended to study it on my own. I’ve been told P1 is a generally easy paper and has the highest pass rate compared to the professional papers.
Still debating what to doAugust 13, 2012 at 6:16 pm #104128
Pretty straightforward folks. same rule, get the basics with study text and concentrate more on Q &A ensuring u use updated kits, preferably Kaplan’s
I’ve always been doing self study and i work full time with 3 kids and God on my side brings me success. Thats the trick, the more exams standard qs practice, the better ur chances for success. good luckAugust 20, 2012 at 5:11 pm #104129
am in the same shoes guys… I just looked at the syllabus and i said i can do it on my own. I think its more like F8 which even if you read the whole book you could still fail. I think its about lots of practice with past papers and getting to read the ACCA articles relevant to P1.August 21, 2012 at 8:18 am #104130
It shoul be like F4 and F8 , both are theoretical. You need to contentrate upon and understand theoretical concepts and then do as much practice as you can.September 5, 2012 at 5:26 pm #104131
i am doing it 2nd time… first time i revised everything, yet didnt take time to practise questions. the more you pratise, the better you get for this paper..September 8, 2012 at 7:42 am #104132
I spent few weeks contemplating self study v classroom tuition.. I am more incline to do self study so at the moment I have obtained the P1 BPP text reading through like u would with a novel just to have a gteneral idea of what the subject entails. Equally I have downloaded the past exams questions and anwers going through at the same time to have a general understanding of what the examiner expects and how to structure answers. The last time I sat ACCA paper was in 2008 pretty long time and am finding ways of getting into it slowly.September 8, 2012 at 4:40 pm #104133

I do self study since I finished CAT. And I like it. There are so many materials online now and lectures as well. I like it even better because i spend my time for studying and not wasting time on travel as well.October 5, 2012 at 6:14 am #104136
It’s all about common sense just like F8….doesn’t matter if you are not good at memorising things, definitions etc, but if you know what is what, you’ll pass for sure…thats the beauty of ACCA and I love it!
