I graduated Master of Business in Finance and I now would like to claim exemption in my ACCA registration.

I have checked ACCA exemption inquiry and found that I’m eligible for exemption 3 papers F1, F2, and F3. However, I need to fill in the exemption application form and the form requires to list Corresponding module title(s) and code(s). Unfortunately, I cannot find academic modules that related to papers that I’m eligible.

What should I fill in section 3 Exemptions Sought of ACCA accreditation application form – accounting and business programmes form?

Thanks
Sareth

“If you do the AAT, you get a few exemptions when starting the ACCA, but you still have to pay for them! ”

Used to be true, not any more. 2012 and onwards, AAT exemptions are free, I have confirmation of this in an email from ACCA and have personally been exempted without paying a charge.

I took AAT Foundation and Intermediate in the 90s and have worked in accountancy ever since. I completed AAT in 2012 and am now doing ACCA. Since I did not go to University, AAT guaranteed I could get into ACCA, A-levels are not enough it seems.

AAT + ACCA is a slower way to a qualification BUT – it leaves you with more letters after your name, and more expertise. When you sit ACCA papers F4 through to F9 you will in every case be sitting an exam on a subject you’ve already sat an AAT exam on. This means you have an automatic head start on your study and a better chance of getting the pass you want.

Regards

If you want to start work in accountancy earlier rather than later, do the AAT first in order to get a qualification. If you do the AAT, you get a few exemptions when starting the ACCA, but you still have to pay for them! I went straight for the ACCA qualification as this was quicker, but I wouldn’t be able to get an accountancy job until I reached the professional levels.

Choice is yours. Remember, you still need three years experience to be a member of the ACCA.

The lecture videos are immensely useful and it’s worth it if you watch them straightaway after each lesson is being thought in your own class. I actually find the P2 and P5 videos are terrific and helped me understand much better.

It’s up to you whether you want to pass, or you want to do better than a mere pass.

I would recommend to wait for exam results. Anyway you have chance to pass the exam
And this may bring you some money saving.

And usually you can pass CBE exams not only in June and December, but more times per year. You should check this with CBE center chosed by you.

ALWAYS invest in a revision kit; the way to pass ACCA exams is to practise questions – practise, practise, practise!

I have classroom tuition for most papers, and use Opentuition as support for areas I’m confused about.

If you’re thinking of doing a paper just with Opentuition, check that the course notes are up-to-date and there are plenty of video lectures for most chapters. (the syllabus changes especially F6)

To be honest, you can pass a paper just using Opentuition and a revision kit.

Opentuition: highly recommended!
