I do understand “if a trade makes accounts to 31 october each year, his 2011/12 assessment will be based on the trading profit for the accounting period ending 31 october 2011.”
BUT I don’t understand the answers of example 1!!!!

the question is:
Andrew has been trading for many years preparing accounts to 31 March.
Which tax year will the trading profits for the year ended 31 March 2011 be assessed in?
the answer is 2010/11.
I think it should be 2011/12.
could you tell me why?

In june 2012 exam, there was a question on lease of a car with carbon emission in excess of 160 (Q1 note 4) but in your notes I couldn’t find anything on leased cars.
@nyambemaboshe, There was no question on leased cars in June2012. You are looking at the June 2011 exam!!!!!
@pr45h4nt, See chapter 4 of the notes, there is detail on leased cars and what percentage of the value is disallowed to reach tax adjusted trading profit.
I have a problem with these notes, I have tried 3 times to download them and then print these notes out and on all of the print outs there are letters missing and numbers on pretty much most of the pages
Can you help as the equations are getting really frustrating

Are the figures (eg tax rates, allowable (capital allowance =motor car < GBP 12000) in notes are up to date and valid for December 2012 paper?
You can see every page in the notes labelled: December 2012 exams, so yes notes are for Dec 2012 exams
